A little bit about Herstoric Ireland ...
Herstoric Ireland is passionate about women’s history. Our website is dedicated to telling the multi-faceted histories of Irish women at home and oversees, as well as women from other countries who resided in Ireland. We undertake research into the history of Irish women throughout all time periods, and we also encourage our audience – both men and women – to engage with us and to bring to our attention stories of interest regarding Irish women, as well as artefacts, objects and places associated with women which are of historical significance. Our articles recall both the ordinary or even mundane aspects of women's history and also the extraordinary. Our aim is to cover a wide variety of topics involving rural, urban, political, domestic, public, private, secular, ecclesiastical, militaristic, traditional and folkloric narratives. On occasion, we will delve into the worlds of archaeology and folklore, as well as other complimentary disciplines. Herstoric Ireland seeks appreciation for the role of, and contribution made by, women in the cultural, political and social history of Ireland, and acknowledges both the accomplishments and failures of the individual women, groups and movements investigated.
